Khanasor, Sinjar – For the first time in weeks resistance forces have launched military offensives on positions of the terrorist militia ISIS in Sinjar. According to consistent information from several sources, the YPG and YBS have attacked ISIS positions in Bara and other villages in cooperation with the HPS commander Qasim Dirbo. Bara is said to be conquered soon.

In Bara, clashes already erupted at midday today in the west of Sinjar mountains where at least eight terrorists were killed according to initial reports. Another offensive took place along the highway from Bara to Khanasor which is being occupied by terrorists since weeks. Villages in the immediate vicinity of Bara have been already liberated, as reported by an ezidiPress correspondent from Khanasor.

Reports indicating that ISIS positions in Sinune have been under attack too, could not be confirmed. According to an Ezidi activist, it was a matter of a deliberate misinformation to ambush the Ezidi resistance forces. Commanders, however, eventually contradicted the reports.

In the meantime, the Iraqi Army has air dropped further supplies, including 12 aid packages of each 1.5 tons for the more than 9,500 civilians on Mount Sinjar. The aid is said to be from a Norwegian non-governmental organization, a Kurdish activist has told. After the Iraqi Department of Defense passed a resolution of arming tribes opposing ISIS, weapons are increasingly being delivered to Ezidi resistance forces too.

The offensive in the west of Sinjar mountain is being supported by the Iraqi Air Force which is conducting observation flights in the region and has already attacked and destroyed several ISIS targets.
