6 Ezidi women and girls who have been freed from Deir ez-Zor

Six women and girls who had been abducted from Shingal region by the terrorist militia ISIS in early August have been freed from the ISIS stronghold of Deir ez-Zor. Afer their capture, the women and girls were deported to Syria where they had to endure 130 days of ISIS captivity. A ransom of those abducted women was finally obtained with the help of German Ezidis and subsequent negotiations with local Arab tribal leaders.  Because efforts to free further women are ongoing, no further details have been named due to security reasons.

Over 5,000 more Ezidi women, girls and children are still being held captive by the terrorist militia ISIS which claims to have revived a longer a practiced `Islamic tradition´ by reintroducing slavery. In its own magazine Dabiq, the terrorist organization boasts of enslaving `infidel´ Ezidi women. A few days ago, it additionally released a manual instructing its members how to trade and deal with enslaved women and children who are considered as spoils of war by self-proclaimed Jihadists.

Only 400 to 600 female Ezidis have managed to escape, have been freed or ransomed from their ISIS captivity so far. The initial global outrage declined quickly, especially feminist organizations remain silent on the enslavement and sexual absue of thousands of innocent women, many of whom are minors
