“Dead bodies are lying everywhere on the streets, on the mountain slopes and in the villages. They are partially decomposed, we cannot identify them”, two ezidiPress correspondents report from Iraq. Both have risked to penetrate into the ISIS controlled area of Sinjar.

“Hundreds of dead bodies are lying here, they have been huddled up in several places of the village. We went down from the southern part of the mountain and we immediately saw dozens of bodies on the slopes. Some of them were shot, the others probably died of thirst – especially the elderly who have not made it to the mountain. And the elders who remained in the villages and were too weak too flee, are lying dead in front of us”, the correspondents informed the ezidiPress editorial team by phone.

“At least 200 more bodies were lying in the two villages we could inspect. After about four hours we returned back across the mountain to the fighters on the north side. We were armed but if the terrorists had discovered us, we would have ended up on one of these heaps of corpses too.”

ISIS terrorists have taken up position outside the villages in the western and southern area and are currently focusing on repelling attacks of Kurdish forces. Therefore the correspondents were able to infilitrate ISIS controlled territory and inspect two villages located there. For now, the villages´ names will be kept secret for safety reasons.

In the meantinme, Ezidi actvists have started to maintain a daily updated list of kidnapped and killed Ezidis. Village by village, name by name, everything will be documented meticulously.
