New York – The US celebrity Rihanna will support Ezidi activist Nadia Murad´s efforts to achieve recognition of the Ezidi genocide by the Islamic State at the fifth Global Citizen Festival in New York´s Central Park, her management announced in a press release.
The proceeds from the sale of the tickets are supposed to boost Nadia Murad´s campaign and help Ezidis. Fans of the singer are also asked to support Murad´s Twitter campaign drawing attention to the Ezidi genocide and the ongoing enslavement of thousands of Ezidi women and children under the hashtags #StopYazidiGenocide and #StandForYazidiWomen.
The Global Citizen Festival is an annual charity event which is attended by international personalities from music and politics.
Nadia Murad has been calling for the prosecution of IS terrorists before the International Criminal Court for committing war crimes and genocide, pushing for the official recognition of the IS atrocities as genocide which the UN and several of its member states have already classified as such.
